Iraqi Al-Amal Association Holds a Workshop on Tolerance and Dialogue for Young People in Basra.



 
Iraqi Al-Amal Association organized a workshop on tolerance and dialogue for the graduates of the project “Youth Capacity Building”. The workshop was also attended by some of the NGOs activists in Basra. The training continued over three days, from 6th to 8th of September 2015 and was held at Al-ferdaws Association. 

Various important issues were discussed at the workshop, which, generally, related to youth, their thoughts and how these issues affect the community. Some of these discussions related to the issues of the minorities, diversity, conflict resolution, and peace building, with a focus on the particularities of Basra’s community. 

The participants discussed all the issues during the workshop with a high interaction level. The workshop was facilitated by Falah Al-Alousi, the head of Salam Al-Rafidain organization. 

Many workshops were successfully accomplished which addressed a number of important skills and crafts for young people (welding, electricity and English language). The next step is to focus on finding employment for those graduates by coordinating with the private and public sectors to provide suitable job opportunities that matches their abilities and skills.

It should be noted that those graduates have been trained in life skills and leadership skills for 4 months within the project “Youth Capacity Building” at the Vocational Training Centre in Basra. After the training was finished, a workshop was held on June 1st, 2015 addressed the subject of Gender and its importance in Basra’s society.
