The two initiatives: We stand together for a better society and build peace and security with everyone’s participation within the Safe Communities Project.

As part of efforts to promote human rights, the initiatives (We Stand Together for a Better Society) and (We Build Peace and Security with Everyone’s Participation) were implemented in Kirkuk Governorate. The two initiatives discussed the most prominent challenges in Riyadh District, such as the lack of secondary schools for girls, the absence of nurseries, the shortage of fuel stations, and the lack of literacy programs. In the Banja Ali area and Dibs district, 40 participants met to choose a regional network to represent them, as the spread of drugs was identified as a major issue threatening young people. After being trained on human rights, children’s rights, and violence, they raised awareness among more than 235 people. In addition, 13 cases of violence were monitored, legal and psychological support was provided to them. In the closing session, and in the presence of decision-makers, a policy paper was prepared to be presented to the Kirkuk Governorate Council to find effective solutions. These two initiatives were implemented with volunteer efforts from the teams (Optimism and Dibs Girls) in cooperation with the Iraqi Al-Amal Association and the Dutch PAX organization within the Safe Communities project
